Championship Energy at Daytona

Michael Jordan’s 23XI Racing Makes History with Daytona 500 Victory

In a moment that shook both the sports and cultural worlds, Michael Jordan has added another championship-level milestone to his legacy—this time at Daytona. On February 15, 2026, Jordan became a Daytona 500-winning team owner as Tyler Reddick powered the No. 45 Toyota to victory in the 68th running of “The Great American Race” for 23XI Racing. With a dramatic final-lap pass at Daytona International Speedway, Reddick overtook Chase Elliott in a chaotic closing stretch to secure the team’s first Daytona 500 win and one of the most significant moments in modern NASCAR history.

Jordan, whose birthday is just around the corner, was visibly ecstatic in Victory Lane, calling the win a feeling comparable to an NBA championship. For a man whose competitive spirit defined an era of basketball, this triumph shows that his winning DNA translates far beyond the hardwood. From dominating the NBA to reshaping sneaker culture and now making waves in motorsports, Jordan continues to blaze trails across industries and generations. The timing—during Black History Month—adds even deeper cultural weight to the accomplishment.

This victory also marks a historic milestone for representation in NASCAR. Jordan stands as the first Black principal owner of a full-time Cup Series team in decades, building on the legacy of pioneers like Wendell Scott, who became the first Black driver to win a Cup race in 1963. With Bubba Wallace leading 40 laps and taking Stage 2 before finishing in the top 10, and with three 23XI Racing cars landing in the top 10 overall, the team opened the 2026 season with authority. The win comes shortly after 23XI Racing settled a major antitrust lawsuit with NASCAR, signaling both competitive and business momentum for the organization.

For Black culture, for sports, and for the spirit of perseverance, this Daytona 500 victory is more than a race—it’s a statement. Michael Jordan continues to prove that wherever competition lives, winning follows. As he approaches another birthday, he’s still setting the pace, still making history, and still reminding the world that greatness has no finish line.
