CHRIS MURDAUGH REBRANDS, TAKES “ROLL ME UP” TO NEW YORK
Formerly known as Fat Pimp, the Dallas artist is bringing a viral comeback, new music, and independent vision to a wider audience.

Bosstalk 101 caught up with recurring guest Chris Murdaugh, formerly known as Fat Pimp, as he continues building momentum under his birth name. Fresh off a flight from New York City, the Dallas rapper, songwriter, and independent artist was campaigning “Roll Me Up”—the 2012 track that has found a new wave of attention through TikTok, streaming platforms, clubs, and DJ support.
Murdaugh is reintroducing the record to new listeners as a current single, with a campaign that includes stops in 30 open markets. The song has surpassed 10 million streams, giving fresh life to a track that first helped establish his name and creating an opportunity to reach audiences well beyond Texas. New York is one of several cities where he has promoted his music over the years, and he says the city continues to show love to Dallas and its culture—from trailblazers like The D.O.C. to Yella Beezy and BigXthaPlug.

During the trip, Murdaugh sat down with SiriusXM to discuss “Roll Me Up,” his rebranding, and the next chapter of his career. A chance run-in and brief conversation with Havoc of Mobb Deep added another memorable moment to the visit. Between interviews, content, and business, he also stopped at Cooklyn Eats in Brooklyn to share a food review—trying the fried lamb chop platter and briefly stepping away from his health journey.
The rebrand reflects Murdaugh’s move to tell his story under his own name and build on the recognition he earned with past hits including “Rack Daddy,” “I’m Getting Money,” and “Thick Fine Woman.” Alongside the renewed “Roll Me Up” campaign, he has continued releasing music, including “Right One” featuring Khody Blake and “Go Down Low.” He is also working with producer Derrick McKinney as he develops the next phase of his sound and career.

Murdaugh’s independent path is connected to L.O.U.D. MUZIK, the label he is building while continuing to promote his catalog and reach listeners directly. The renewed attention around “Roll Me Up” has brought new visibility to the company and its work. For Murdaugh, the New York visit offered a change of scenery and a fresh charge for a campaign already reaching audiences across the country.
