Hip-hop mogul, entrepreneur, and cultural icon Master P is proving once again that reinvention and purpose never go out of style. Percy “Master P” Miller has taken his lifelong love for basketball back to his hometown, now serving as the President of Basketball Operations and assistant coach for the University of New Orleans (UNO) Privateers since early 2025. Known around the program as “Coach P,” he’s focused on rebuilding the team’s culture while guiding student-athletes toward success both on and off the court.

For Master P, this moment isn’t a side quest—it’s a full-circle return. Long before platinum plaques and No Limit dominance, Miller was a standout guard at Warren Easton High School in New Orleans, where he averaged 18 points and 9 assists as a senior. He later earned a scholarship to the University of Houston before a knee injury altered his path. Still, the dream of hoops never faded. He continued playing at Merritt College in Oakland and eventually pursued pro opportunities, attending NBA training camps with the Charlotte Hornets and Toronto Raptors in the late ‘90s and suiting up in leagues like the CBA and ABA.
Today, that same hunger drives his approach at UNO. As President of Basketball Operations, Master P helps secure resources for the program and supports head coach Stacy Hollowell in building a competitive roster. But his focus goes beyond wins and losses. He’s committed to mentoring players on life skills, education, and NIL opportunities—teaching them how to navigate business, branding, and responsibility. Around the gym, he calls his players “dogs,” not “puppies,” reinforcing a mindset built on discipline, toughness, and accountability.

Coach P’s vision includes bringing NBA scouts into UNO’s orbit and creating pathways for his players to succeed at the next level. Drawing from his own experiences in music, business, and sports, he’s creating a culture rooted in family, teamwork, and opportunity. His goal is simple but powerful: to build a winning program in New Orleans while giving young athletes the tools to thrive beyond basketball.
