Head Huncho Amir Pays Respect to Dallas Legends
In a YouTube interview with Bosstalk 101, Head Huncho Amir steps away from the studio conversation to address a question that continues to shape Dallas hip-hop: the difference between Old Dallas and New Dallas.
E CEO brings up the legacy of artists and groups such as Gator Main, Pookie & Lucci, and DSR. Head Huncho Amir meets the topic with respect, explaining that the movement influenced him when he was coming up. Instead of brushing off the city’s history or turning the conversation solely toward himself, he recognizes the artists who helped build the foundation.
For Head Huncho, representing New Dallas means creating a fresh lane while understanding what came before. He speaks about unity and learning from the lessons—including the mistakes—that have shaped the Dallas rap scene. His message is clear: a new generation can move the culture forward without disrespecting the people who opened doors and made their mark.
He also has musical ties to the city’s legacy, including “Like That,” his collaboration with Don Chief, now available on major streaming platforms.
Mz. Jamaica brings purpose and tradition into the conversation, comparing the value of cultural roots to holding on to family traditions like Grandma’s recipes. That opens the door for E CEO to ask Head Huncho about the Green House on Frazier Street in East Dallas—a meaningful part of the motivation behind his New Dallas representation.
Across the interview, Head Huncho shares a message for anyone chasing a goal: keep creating, keep working, and let the music push you beyond your comfort zone. Whether a song is made for a particular audience or simply comes from the heart, the drive to get up and put in the work matters.
