Bosstalk 101 Backstage Experience: Tech N9ne & E-40 Bring “Strange Wid’ It” Tour To Dallas

Updated: May 23

Walking into The Bomb Factory for the Dallas stop of the “Strange Wid’ It” Tour felt like stepping directly into organized chaos—in the best way possible. Before the lights even dimmed, you could already feel the energy in the building. This wasn’t just another rap concert. This was a celebration of independent hip-hop culture from two legends who built their brands without following the industry blueprint.

As the tour prepares to close out Sunday, May 24, in Kansas City, the “Strange Wid’ It” run has already stamped itself as one of the strongest independent hip-hop tours of 2026. From city to city, fans packed venues to witness Tech N9ne and E-40 prove that independent artists can still headline major tours, move arenas, and control their own legacy without depending on the traditional industry system.

From day-one Bay Area supporters repping E-40 and The Click… to the diehard Strange Music fans who connect deeply with Tech N9ne and his emotional, high-intensity performances—the crowd in Dallas came ready for a real experience.

E-40 hit the stage first with a classic hip-hop setup that immediately gave the room that authentic feel. The DJ was visible, the transitions were clean, and longtime Click member D-Shot kept the crowd fully engaged as hype man throughout the performance. From old-school Bay classics to newer records, 40 Water delivered a set that reminded everybody why he’s one of the greatest independent artists to ever touch a microphone. The entire performance felt like a direct dose of Bay Area culture planted right in the middle of Dallas, Texas.

Then came Tech N9ne—and the entire atmosphere shifted.

The visuals turned darker. The graphics became more intense. There was no visible DJ setup. Instead, the stage transformed into a full theatrical experience. Tech brought pure adrenaline from the second he touched the stage, even pulling fans from the crowd to rap lyrics live beside him. It wasn’t just a performance—it felt like controlled pandemonium. The fans screamed every word back at him like therapy through music, which is exactly the connection Tech N9ne has built with his audience over decades.

After the show, Bosstalk 101 received an exclusive backstage invite to the dressing room where E CEO sat down one-on-one with Tech N9ne for an in-depth conversation. But then the night took an unexpected turn.

A knock hit the door… and E-40 walked into the room.

From there, the interview instantly became legendary.

The conversation centered around the meaning behind the “Strange Wid’ It” Tour and what both artists bring to the culture as pioneers of independence. Tech N9ne spoke on how E-40 was one of the first Bay Area rappers to heavily impact the streets of Kansas City back in 1989. E-40 responded by explaining how the Bay Area and Kansas City have always felt culturally connected—calling them “first cousins.”

E CEO took the discussion deeper by asking about true independence in hip-hop and gave E-40 his flowers for helping create a blueprint that countless artists follow today. Sitting backstage surrounded by family members, crew members, and longtime supporters, the moment felt genuine and unfiltered—like real hip-hop history happening in real time.

Tech N9ne also opened up about the emotional side of his performances and how fans help fuel the energy he brings every night. Speaking on his signature white hospital scrubs, he explained how they represent his mother and her battles with mental health—turning pain into purpose every time he steps on stage.

Once the interview wrapped, the room stayed alive with laughs, conversations, and picture moments before the tour moved on to its next city.

For Bosstalk 101, being invited backstage for the Dallas stop of the “Strange Wid’ It” Tour was more than media access—it was an opportunity to witness two independent hip-hop legends give game, share stories, and show why authenticity still wins in this culture.
