Opening statements began August 26 in the capital murder trial of Kewon White, the man prosecutors accuse of fatally shooting Dallas rapper MO3—born Melvin Noble—on Interstate 35 in November 2020.

Prosecutors allege White was hired by Dallas rapper Yella Beezy, whose legal name is Markies Conway, to carry out the killing. White has pleaded not guilty. But before the jury heard opening statements, controversy had already entered the courthouse.
