Miami Beach, FL — October 1, 2026 — Rapper and music executive Rick Ross, whose legal name is William Leonard Roberts II, was arrested early Thursday morning in Miami Beach in connection with allegations stemming from a reported domestic-violence incident in August.

According to Miami-Dade County court and jail records, Ross faces one felony count of battery by strangulation and one misdemeanor battery charge, both designated as domestic-violence related. He was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center at approximately 6:10 a.m. (CBS News)
The charges reportedly stem from an incident alleged to have occurred on August 28. The details surrounding the case remain part of the ongoing legal proceedings, and authorities have not released every detail of the investigation. Recent public allegations made by Ross’ former girlfriend have also drawn attention, although reports have noted that it has not been independently confirmed whether every public allegation is connected to the charges filed in this case. (The Guardian)
Ross’ Defense: Allegations Are False
Ross’ legal team is disputing the allegations.
His attorneys, including Steve Sadow and Bradley Horenstein, have stated that Ross is being wrongfully accused and that the allegations are false. Ross has pleaded not guilty and is maintaining his innocence. His attorneys have asked the public not to prejudge the situation while the legal process moves forward. (E! Online)
A bond hearing was held Thursday, with reports placing the combined bond at approximately $6,000, while a stay-away order was also entered as a pretrial condition. Ross’ arraignment is scheduled for October 22, 2026. (CBS News)
The Bigger Story
Rick Ross has been a major figure in hip-hop for more than two decades, building a career as a recording artist, entrepreneur and founder of Maybach Music Group. His arrest immediately became a major entertainment-news story because of his prominence within the music industry.
However, an arrest and criminal charges are not a conviction. The allegations against Ross have not been proven in court, and his not-guilty plea represents his formal position in the case.
As the legal proceedings develop, Boss Talk 101 will continue following the story and providing updates based on verified information and court records.
This is a developing story.
