đŸ”„đŸ”„ G.R.I.T.S. HITS THE SCREEN — 8BALL & MJG STEP INTO A NEW ERA đŸ”„đŸ”„

If you love Southern Hip-Hop, Memphis grit, or legendary storytellers stepping into brand-new territory—you do NOT want to miss this. ALLBLK just lit the fuse on one of the most authentic Memphis-driven series we’ve seen in years, and the city’s own iconic rap duo 8Ball & MJG are right at the center of it.

The certified legends—who helped define Tennessee rap with classics like Coming Out Hard, Space Age Pimpin’, and Pimp Hard—are officially expanding their rĂ©sumĂ©. The duo makes their acting debut in G.R.I.T.S. (Girls Raised in the South), an 8-episode ALLBLK original series that premiered October 30, 2025. And if you know anything about Memphis culture, you already know: when 8Ball and MJG put their stamp on something, it comes with soul, swagger, and decades of Southern truth behind it.

Set right in the heart of Memphis, Tennessee, G.R.I.T.S. follows three young women—Keisha, Ty, and Francis—fighting through love, loss, ambition, and survival, all while holding each other up and finding freedom on roller skates. It’s a raw, heartfelt tribute to Southern womanhood, friendship, and the kind of perseverance only the South breeds.

But adding 8Ball & MJG?

That’s the cultural cheat code.

“We’ve performed on stages all over the world, but acting is a whole new stage for us,” 8Ball said in a statement. “Fans are going to see a very different side, and they may be surprised.”

Not only do the legends show up, they transform. Executive Producer Thomas Q. Jones praised their work ethic, saying they didn’t walk in as “celebrity cameos”—they came in as actors ready to work, ready to stretch, and ready to show exactly why their legacy has lasted decades.

Series creator Deji LaRay went even further:

“Bringing 8Ball & MJG into G.R.I.T.S. was a game-changer. They are Hip-Hop Royalty and cultural icons. They add authenticity and an undeniable Memphis voice to the series.”

From Space Age Pimpin’ to prime-time acting roles, the duo continues proving why they’re a pillar of Southern Hip-Hop: always evolving, always representing, and always putting Memphis on the map.

This isn’t just a show cameo—this is a moment.

A cultural merge.

A salute to the South.

And a brand-new lane for two of hip-hop’s most respected voices.

Tap in and don’t blink—this is one Southern series you need in your rotation.
