Anthony was facing a murder charge, though jurors also had the option of considering manslaughter or acquittal before ultimately returning a guilty verdict.

Key Facts From The Trial:

• Karmelo Anthony and Austin Metcalf were student-athletes attending different high schools.

• Testimony indicated a verbal confrontation began after Anthony allegedly refused requests to move away from an area occupied by Metcalf's team.

• Multiple witnesses stated that Metcalf attempted to shove Anthony following the exchange.

• Prosecutors argued that Anthony then removed a knife from his backpack and stabbed Metcalf in the chest.

• Evidence presented during trial included cellphone video, 911 recordings, witness testimony, and autopsy findings showing a fatal wound to Metcalf's heart.

• By finding Anthony guilty of murder, jurors agreed that Anthony knowingly and intentionally caused the death of another person under Texas law.

• Anthony now faces a sentencing range of five to 99 years in prison.

The case has generated national attention and intense public debate. Crowds gathered outside the Collin County Courthouse before the verdict, with some supporters chanting "Free Karmelo." Questions surrounding race, jury selection, self-defense claims, and accountability have fueled conversations across social media and within communities nationwide.

This is a heartbreaking case involving the loss of a young life and the future of another young man now hanging in the balance. Families on both sides continue to carry the weight of a tragedy that began with a confrontation that escalated in seconds.
