Moment of Silence To Lil Jon & Family

Bosstalk 101 reflects on the life and tragic passing of Nathan “DJ Young Slade / Youngblood” Smith, and the events from his disappearance to his recovery in Milton, Georgia.

Bosstalk 101 Primetime Media Team sends sincere condolences and prayers to the family of Atlanta hip-hop pioneer Lil Jon following the heartbreaking loss of his son, Nathan Smith, known professionally as DJ Young Slade and later DJ Youngblood. The 27-year-old DJ, producer, and engineer was found deceased on Friday, February 6, 2026, after being reported missing earlier in the week near his home in Milton, Georgia.

According to authorities, Smith was last seen early Tuesday morning, February 3, when he left his home on foot without his phone. Family members and local police quickly issued alerts, noting that he may have been disoriented and in need of assistance. Over several days, search teams expanded their efforts throughout the Milton area. On Friday, divers with the Cherokee County Fire Department recovered a body from a nearby pond not far from Smith’s residence. While the investigation remains active, police stated there was no initial indication of foul play, and the official cause of death is pending confirmation from the medical examiner.

Nathan Smith was more than the son of a legendary artist—he was a creative force in his own right. An NYU graduate and accomplished music producer, he built a reputation as a talented DJ within the Georgia music circuit and beyond. Performing under the names DJ Young Slade and later DJ Youngblood, he followed in his father’s footsteps while carving out his own path in music. He served as a touring DJ for emerging artist Jordan Newt and participated in an eight-week nationwide tour alongside Disney star Zendaya. He also appeared in the BET pilot Looped In Live, the film Battlefield America, and performed at high-profile events for brands like Adidas, Oakley, and Body Armor. Known for his technical skills and musical ear, Smith was also the youngest DJ to win the Across the Fader DJ Battle in 2012.

Family members described Nathan as “immensely caring,” “amazingly talented,” and deeply devoted to his loved ones and music. In a public statement, Lil Jon and Nicole Smith expressed their devastation while thanking supporters and first responders for their efforts in searching for their son. They emphasized his warm spirit, passion for creativity, and the pride they held in his accomplishments as an artist and engineer.

The hip-hop community continues to mourn alongside the Smith family, remembering Nathan “DJ Young Slade / Youngblood” Smith not only for his lineage but for his dedication to music, production, and the culture. As authorities continue their investigation, Bosstalk 101 stands in solidarity with Lil Jon and his family during this incredibly difficult time, offering a moment of silence and respect for a young life that touched many through sound, creativity, and connection.
