More Than a Crown: Acacia McBride Represents California, Culture and Entrepreneurship

Acacia McBride’s journey to becoming Miss California USA 2026 represents much more than beauty, fashion and a celebrated crowning moment. It is the story of a Black woman carrying ambition, cultural representation and business ownership onto one of the country’s most visible stages.

Representing Calabasas, McBride captured the Miss California USA crown in July 2026 before advancing to the Top 20 at the Miss USA competition in Miami. But the crown is only one part of her résumé.

At 28 years old, McBride is a professional model who has worked with major beauty brands, including Sephora and L’Oréal. She is also the founder of Chauf, a luxury transportation company—placing her among a growing generation of women who understand that visibility should be connected to ownership.

That distinction matters.

For decades, pageant contestants were primarily presented through the narrow lens of physical beauty. Women such as McBride are helping broaden that image. She entered the competition not only as a model, but as a founder who had already begun building something of her own.

During the Miss USA state-costume presentation, McBride honored Queen Calafia—the legendary Black warrior queen associated with the origin of California’s name. Wearing black-and-gold armor-inspired fashion, she brought history, mythology and modern Black excellence together on the national stage.

The presentation carried a deeper message: Black women are not visitors in California’s story. They are woven into its culture, leadership, creativity and economic future.

Although Miss Virginia Justus Kelley ultimately won Miss USA 2026, McBride’s Top 20 placement and statewide reign remain significant. Her platform gives her an opportunity to move beyond recognition and use the crown to strengthen her business, expand her influence and inspire other women to pursue leadership without limiting themselves to one identity.

She does not have to choose between being beautiful and being brilliant.

She does not have to choose between the runway and the boardroom.

She can carry the crown while building the company.

Acacia McBride’s story is a reminder that modern influence becomes most powerful when attention is converted into access, enterprise and long-term ownership.

The crown may have introduced her to a wider audience.

What she builds from that visibility will define the legacy.
