Nadine’s Braiding Shop Breaks the Internet and the Mold as America’s First 24-Hour Braiding Salon
Bowie, Maryland – July 29, 2025 – In a world where time is money and access is everything, one beauty brand is changing the game — 24 hours at a time.

Nadine’s Braiding Shop, founded by Cameroonian entrepreneur Nadine Jean-Baptiste, has gone viral after being spotlighted by travel influencer @TheKemoyMartin, earning over one million views on TikTok and praise from Black Enterprise and countless others. What sets it apart? It’s one of the first 24-hour African braiding salons in the country, proudly Black-owned, women-led, and deeply community-rooted.
With humble beginnings and just $50 in her pocket, Nadine immigrated to the U.S. and built what’s now being called a million-dollar empire. Her shop — a massive beauty haven that seats over 150 customers at once — serves walk-ins day and night, offering flexibility that fits the modern woman’s (and man’s) life.

“We wanted to create a space where beauty fits your life, not the other way around,” says Nadine. “Our 24-hour model empowers our clients with flexibility and gives stylists more freedom to earn on their own time.”
And the formula works.
Nadine now employs nearly 400 braiders, many of whom are fellow immigrants from Cameroon. With tag-team techniques, braiding styles that once took 8 hours can be completed in 2 to 3 hours, without sacrificing quality or care. The shop is more than a salon — it’s a movement.
The viral spotlight, boosted by @theKemoyMartin, showcases a business strategy that’s fast, affordable, efficient, and empowering. “If Nadine, an immigrant from Cameroon, can go from zero dollars to building a million-dollar empire, then you should know anything is possible,” Martin says in the video.

A Full-Service Experience Built for the Culture
Nadine’s Braiding Shop doesn’t just offer braids — it offers an entire ecosystem of services that make it one-of-a-kind:
- 💇🏽♀️ Free Hair Included with each appointment
- 👩🏽🦱 Private Suites for clients desiring a more intimate setting
- 🧒🏽 A Special Kids’ Section that keeps little ones entertained and out of “grown folks’ business”
- 🍲 On-Site Catering with authentic Cameroonian meals to nourish stylists and clients alike
- 🌙 Night Owl Fee: An additional $40 applies for appointments between 8 PM – 4 AM, catering to those who truly live the hustle
From stylists to clients, everyone leaves fed, fulfilled, and fabulous.
From Braids to Brilliance: A Cultural and Economic Impact
Nadine’s is more than a business — it’s an incubator of opportunity and legacy. The salon provides work to aspiring and licensed stylists, many of whom go on to build their own clientele and wealth. It even hosted its first free Summer Braiding Camp in 2024, giving back through skill-building and mentorship for the next generation.
“She brought all her people over here too and gave them an opportunity!!!” one TikTok commenter praised. Others have dubbed her “inspiring,” “a genius,” and “a queen of the culture.”
Nadine is also one of the few braiders praised online, as social media becomes increasingly vocal about questionable salon experiences. In contrast, her shop is consistently applauded for professionalism, speed, and hospitality.
