OFF THE SET WITH MR. LOS
BOSSTALK PRIMETIME 101 GOES BEHIND THE SCENES WITH KARLOUS MILLER

Being a voice for the South means doing our due diligence to give fans a closer look at the artists, entertainers and cultural figures helping shape today’s landscape. This time, Bosstalk PRIMETIME 101 Media catches up with comedian, actor and entrepreneur Karlous Miller, better known to some simply as “Los.” From selling out comedy clubs and co-founding one of the most influential comedy platforms in the country to landing his first leading role on the big screen, Miller continues to expand his reach while staying true to the Southern authenticity that helped build his brand.
On July 24, Saban Films and Sony Pictures collaborated to release the comedy-horror film Haunted Heist, marking Karlous Miller’s first starring role as the lead in a major feature film. Best known for his stand-up comedy, his memorable run on Wild ’N Out, and as one of the founding voices behind The 85 South Show, Miller has spent years building one of comedy’s most loyal fan bases. That momentum has now carried him into a new chapter of his career.
Directed by Lil Rel Howery in his feature directorial debut, Haunted Heist blends horror, comedy and suspense while featuring an ensemble cast that keeps audiences guessing from beginning to end. The film represents another important milestone for Miller, becoming the sixth movie credit of his career and undoubtedly his biggest acting opportunity to date. For someone who built his name independently after coming up through the Southern comedy circuit, this starring role reflects years of consistency, perseverance and belief in his craft.

Karlous’ career has never been limited to making people laugh. Beyond comedy, Mr. Los has become heavily involved in automotive culture, sharing his passion through his online series Project Karlous, where he showcases his collection of classic and custom-built cars. The series gives fans another glimpse into his personality and demonstrates that his brand extends far beyond the comedy stage.

During his recent conversation with Bosstalk 101, Karlous spoke candidly about the importance of building genuine relationships throughout the entertainment industry. Referencing the memorable introduction that he and The 85 South Show created for Bun B’s Texas Takeover Rodeo, Miller explained that the opportunity felt natural because their relationship with Bun B had already been established for years. Rather than simply chasing opportunities, he emphasized the value of cultivating authentic friendships that organically lead to meaningful collaborations.
The interview also highlighted the quick wit and effortless charisma that have become Karlous Miller’s trademark. From discussing comedy beefs and maximizing opportunities to opening up about mental health and navigating the pressures that come with success, the conversation provided viewers with a deeper understanding of the man behind the jokes. While fans know him for delivering punchlines, this interview revealed the discipline, preparation and mindset required to build a career that continues evolving through comedy, film, business and entrepreneurship.
One of the biggest takeaways from the conversation was Miller’s willingness to continue growing. Rather than becoming comfortable with the success he has already achieved, he continues to challenge himself creatively while remaining grounded in the values and work ethic that helped build his career. It is that mindset that continues to separate him from many of his peers and positions him for even greater opportunities ahead.
SIDEBAR
Karlous Miller approached Haunted Heist with the mindset of a student. To prepare for his starring role, he hired veteran actor Larry B. Scott as his acting coach. Scott is best known for portraying Lamar Latrell in the 1984 comedy classic Revenge of the Nerds, bringing decades of experience to help Miller transition into a leading film role.

During a recent appearance on The Morning Hustle, Karlous explained that acting demanded an entirely different level of discipline than stand-up comedy. On stage, a comedian delivers a joke once and immediately receives feedback from the audience. On a film set, however, the same line may need to be delivered dozens of times from multiple camera angles while maintaining the same emotion, timing and energy for every take. Miller admitted that the process challenged him creatively but also strengthened his appreciation for the craft of acting.
These new endeavors continue to showcase the brilliance, versatility and professionalism that Mr. Los brings to every opportunity. While comedy remains the foundation of his career, his willingness to embrace new challenges proves he is committed to building a legacy that extends far beyond the microphone. As more doors continue to open in television and film, Karlous Miller is showing that his next act may be his biggest one yet.
