PAUL WALL BRINGS HOUSTON FLAVOR TO THE STATE FAIR OF TEXAS

Houston has a sound, a style, and a whole lot of Texas pride—and Paul Wall has carried all three from H-Town to audiences around the world. His journey began in Houston’s underground rap scene, where he built his name with Swishahouse and helped bring the city’s chopped-and-screwed sound to a wider audience.
Wall’s momentum reached the mainstream with his 2005 album The People’s Champ, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. That same year, his feature on Nelly’s “Grillz” helped send the song to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 and earned Wall a Grammy nomination. His memorable verse on Kanye West’s “Drive Slow” further introduced his laid-back delivery and unmistakable Texas drawl to listeners across the country.
More than two decades into his career, Paul Wall continues to record, collaborate, and represent his home state. In March 2025, he received a place on Billy Bob’s Texas Wall of Fame—another honor recognizing his lasting mark on Texas music. He has also stayed connected to the community through school supply drives, holiday toy giveaways, and disaster relief efforts. Bosstalk 101 was proud to welcome Paul Wall as a guest on the show and share a conversation with the Houston rap veteran.
This Saturday, October 10, Paul Wall will bring the Paul Wall Fall Ball to the State Fair of Texas. Catch him at 7:45 p.m. on the Chevrolet Main Stage at Fair Park, with his live band, special guests, and DJ Barely Sober. The concert is included with regular paid Fair admission. The State Fair is a Texas tradition where families come from near and far for the rides, food, and fun—and this weekend, Paul Wall will have the stage.
