Peaches Records Highlights Bruno

A Southern music landmark links generations as Peaches Records in New Orleans celebrates Record Store Day 2026 with global superstar Bruno Mars, honoring the culture that built the South’s sound.

NEW ORLEANS, LA — From bounce and brass bands to platinum plaques and packed arenas, the South has always moved through independent record stores. Few places represent that heartbeat like Peaches Records, the historic New Orleans shop that has served as a cornerstone for vinyl lovers, DJs, collectors, and rising artists since 1975.

For Record Store Day 2026 (Saturday, April 18), Peaches Records is shining the spotlight on iconic singer and entertainer Bruno Mars, who serves as this year’s official Record Store Day Ambassador. Known for bridging generations of sound—from funk and soul to pop and R&B—Mars represents the kind of artist whose music still lives best on wax. His connection to live instrumentation, vinyl culture, and timeless showmanship makes him a natural fit for a day dedicated to independent record stores worldwide.

Peaches Records carries deep Southern roots. The legendary Gentilly Boulevard location helped nurture early movements from New Orleans’ hip-hop pioneers, including artists affiliated with Cash Money Records and No Limit Records, who found both community and distribution support within its walls. For decades, Peaches has remained a trusted hub where DJs, collectors, and fans discover the next wave while honoring the foundation.

Today, the store’s Uptown Magazine Street location continues that legacy under the leadership of owner Shirani Rea, preserving its reputation as one of the South’s most respected independent record shops. As vinyl culture continues to surge, Peaches remains a bridge between the past and present, making it the perfect place to celebrate Record Store Day with an artist like Bruno Mars at the center of the moment.

Mars is currently building momentum around his upcoming album The Romantic, along with new collaborations and live performances set to roll out through 2026. His “The Romantic Tour” will also stop in New Orleans at the Caesars Superdome on September 16, 2026, with special guests Anderson .Paak and Raye—further tying his presence to the Crescent City’s music calendar this year.

Bosstalk 101 salutes Peaches Records for continuing to keep vinyl culture alive in the South while bridging generations of sound. Record Store Day 2026 stands as another reminder that independent record stores remain the backbone of the culture.
