“They Tried to Tell Him”: Katt Williams and Mo’Nique’s Warnings to Shannon Sharpe Resurface Amid Legal Fallout

In the court of public opinion, hindsight is 20/20. Still, when it comes to Shannon Sharpe’s recent legal and professional woes, the internet is quick to remind everyone: he was warned.
Over the past year, two outspoken comedians—Katt Williams and Mo’Nique—sat across from Shannon on his own podcast, Club Shay Shay, and issued what many now see as chillingly accurate warnings. With Sharpe now entangled in lawsuits, settlements, and a confirmed departure from ESPN, those moments have resurfaced with viral force.
In his now-legendary January 2024 Club Shay Shay appearance, Katt Williams delivered an interview packed with quotables, barbs, and spiritual undertones. However, tucked beneath the viral clapbacks was a quieter prophecy.
“You either serving God or the other side,” Williams warned, his tone sharper than the jokes.
The internet now replays this moment like a warning bell. Fans recall Katt cautioning Sharpe about his alleged dating preferences of much younger white women—saying it would come back to haunt him. Shannon, laughing, brushed it off.
Fast forward to now: Shannon is facing the public fallout of a $50 million sexual assault lawsuit, which, while settled out of court, cost him his seat at ESPN’s First Take. Suddenly, that January warning isn’t so funny anymore.
A few months later, Mo’Nique echoed a similar sentiment during her Club Shay Shay interview.
“You better get you a grown woman who knows how to love you,” she said, staring Sharpe down as he chuckled.
What felt like maternal humor at the time now reads like divine foresight. The woman at the center of Sharpe’s lawsuit was significantly younger. Mo’Nique has since referenced the moment on stage, saying: “I tried to tell him.” That comment sparked controversy with some calling it insensitive, but many online said what they were all thinking: she had a point.

In April 2025, a woman filed a $50 million civil lawsuit against Shannon Sharpe, accusing him of sexual assault, battery, and emotional abuse. Sharpe denied all allegations and claimed the relationship was consensual. The case was settled and dismissed in July, but the damage was already done.
ESPN cut ties. Shannon is stepping away from First Take. Then a second lawsuit soon followed: a $20 million defamation suit filed by a woman who said Sharpe falsely claimed she was left by her husband after a viral clip with Usher. In a separate situation, a judge also ordered the preservation of a sex tape between Sharpe and an OnlyFans model amid another legal dispute.
Shannon now hosts Club Shay Shay and Nightcap independently, but the weight of these cases has seemingly clouded his image.
Public memory is long, and social media is just as loud. Fans have not forgotten who sounded the alarms.
Clips of Mo’Nique’s and Katt’s interviews are circulating across Instagram, TikTok, and X, with captions like:
• “Katt tried to save that man’s soul on his own show.”
• “Mo’Nique wasn’t joking. She gave him grown woman wisdom.”
• “The ancestors really sent him warnings… and he laughed them off.”
Their words now feel heavy with spiritual weight—especially to those who believe in karma, intuition, or divine warning.
Whether these lawsuits lead to more consequences or eventually fade from public memory, one thing is clear:
Katt Williams and Mo’Nique didn’t just give interviews. They gave prophecy.
For those of us who believe in signs, energy, and divine protection—Shannon definitely missed the mark with this one.
