Toosii Scores a Full Ride: From Platinum Plaques to the Gridiron

An inspiring comeback story of discipline, vision, and faith in the next chapter of a hip-hop star’s journey
Multi-platinum rapper Nau’Jour Grainger, better known as Toosii, has done what few artists have ever dreamed of — traded stages for stadiums. The 25-year-old North Carolina native recently accepted a full Division I football scholarship from Sacramento State University, where he’ll suit up as a wide receiver for the Hornets’ 2026 recruiting class.
After stepping away from the game during high school to pursue music, Toosii’s story has come full circle. His return to football, announced earlier this summer, was met with surprise and admiration from fans and athletes alike. Sacramento State’s head coach Brennan Marion personally extended the offer via FaceTime, solidifying what Toosii called his “next chapter in chasing greatness.”

In a viral social media post, Toosii declared, “I’m chasing history — first multi-platinum recording artist to go back to school and play D1 football.” His determination has been backed by relentless training sessions in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he’s been seen running routes and perfecting his craft. NFL veterans like C.J. Gardner-Johnson and DeSean Jackson have also voiced their support, noting his heart and work ethic.
This isn’t the first time a rapper has crossed over into sports. Legends like Master P once signed NBA contracts with the Toronto Raptors and Charlotte Hornets in the late ’90s, proving that greatness doesn’t have to stay confined to one lane. Toosii’s latest move echoes that same entrepreneurial spirit — balancing art, ambition, and athletic discipline.
From topping Billboard charts with emotional records like “Favorite Song” to now preparing for his first game under the lights, Toosii’s journey symbolizes something much larger than sports or music — it’s about second chances, courage, and the belief that you can write new chapters no matter where your story begins.
