TREACH DISCUSSION: 2PAC IN 1991 AND SEEING BISHOP FIRST HAND

BOSSTALK 101 DELUXE EDITION

Some conversations stay with you, and Treach’s sit-down with Bosstalk 101 is shaping up to be one of them. Known as a member of Naughty by Nature, Treach takes us back to his early bond with Tupac Shakur and the moment he saw Pac’s intensity up close—before the world knew him as Bishop.

Treach shared that he and Pac met while working on the road: Treach with Queen Latifah’s crew and Pac with Digital Underground. They became close through touring and spending time together, building a brotherhood rooted in loyalty and respect. Queen Latifah also encouraged Treach to explore acting and look beyond music as he built his career.

That advice led Treach to an audition for Juice. In the interview, he recalls going in to read for the role of Bishop with Pac there beside him. Treach had never acted in a movie before, but he was ready to give the audition a shot. As he waited outside, Pac’s performance was so passionate that Treach remembers wondering if something had happened in the room. Pac brought that much intensity to the audition.

Tupac ultimately won the role, delivering the performance audiences would come to know as Bishop. But Treach says Pac also made sure his friend got a place in the movie. Queen Latifah helped open the door, and Pac advocated for Treach to be included. Juice became Treach’s big-screen acting debut, and he went on to appear in other films, including Jason’s Lyric.

In this conversation, Treach gives us his firsthand perspective on Pac in 1991: the friendship, the audition, and the passion he saw before Juice reached the big screen. It’s a story about two artists supporting each other as new opportunities began to open—and a glimpse into the making of a film and performance that became part of hip-hop and Black cinema history.

The full interview is coming soon. Stay locked in with Bosstalk 101 and get ready to hear Treach tell the story in his own words.
